Dynamical Study of O Chemisorption on a Cu(110) Surface by STM
23 October 1989
The process of oxygen chemisorption on a Cu(110) surface has been observed dynamically using scanning tunneling microscopy. As molecular oxygen was introduced to clean Cu(110) surface, nucleation and growth of the chemisorbed layer occurred preferentially along the , forming long isolated chains. The straight isolated chains of > 25angstroms, which is a critical length, appeared on Cu terraces, not near step edges.
