Describes the special methods of construction and installation used at the river crossings (the river Tay at Dundee and the Firth of Forth at Queensferry). For the river Tay portion a subfluvial cable was used but due to the rocky nature of the bed of the Forth, it was necessary to lay the cables across the Forth Bridge. The Edinburgh-Aberdeen link is a 12-channel carrier on cable system covering a distance of 123 miles and comprises two 12 quad 40 lb. cables.
