Experimental Demo of Nonlinear Frequency Division Multiplexed Transmission

We experimentally demonstrate a nonlinear frequency division multiplexed optical system with modulation over nonlinear discrete spectrum. In particular, each signal carries 4 bits by multiplexing two distinct eigenvalues (nonlinear frequencies) with independent QPSK modulation. We show a low error performance using nonlinear Fourier transform detection with 4Gbps transmission rate over 640km.
