Many signals of practical interest are well-modeled by a band- limited Gaussian random process. Any realizable signal processing component also entails a finite dynamic range of amplitude values, and so will result in limiting the signal to some value for signals exceeding this level. In this paper it is shown that amplitude limiting of a Gaussian random process results in an undistorted output component that is a calculable fraction of the input signal, and a distortion component that is uncorrelated with the input.
