Multiple Antenna Uplink Transmission for LTE-A
06 September 2012
Clustered DFT-S-OFDM, which is an extension of SCFDMA, has been accepted as the uplink multiple access scheme for LTE-Advanced. This scheme has introduced non-contiguous resource block allocation to improve the frequency diversity gain, however it causes an increase in the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). A new multiple antenna technology, which joint SpaceTime Block Coding (STBC) and Frequency Switched Transmit Diversity (FSTD), is investigated for Clustered DFT-S-OFDM to keep both good PAPR and diversity gain with simple implementation. An improved FSTD algorithm is proposed to enhance the frequency diversity. The proposed scheme introduces a symbol level dynamic sub-carrier allocation method to make one turbo coded stream transmitted multiple clusters and multiple transmit antennas. Moreover, STBC is employed for two transmit antennas to achieve spatial diversity gain and coding gain. Performance evaluation via simulation in LTE environment corroborates that the proposed transmit diversity approach provides performance advantages in uplink system.
