The principles of quality management and constant improvement have long been applied to factory manufacturing processes. Here they will be applied to the business process of procuring new, high technology communications products. Customer/supplier models will be used to identify the process input and output requirements. The product life cycle concept will be used to define the various customers and operations. This leads to the definition of the procurement process scope from initial customer planning through product deployment and eventual retirement. With this process definition, process management and improvement strategies will be illustrated.
