Slave Boson Method in Heavy Electron Physics
28 January 1988
The application to the lattice Anderson model of the slave- boson, large degeneracy technique 1, (which has been previously applied to the single impurity Anderson model), is considered, with emphasis on the differences between the lattice and impurity problems. In this talk the slave boson formalism will be reviewed and its advantages and disadvantages discussed. Then a comparison of Kondo spin compensation in the impurity and lattice problems will be given, results for the temperature and frequency dependent conductivity will be presented, it will be shown that the model is unstable to slave-boson mediated d-wave superconductivity, and the density fluctuation collective mode will be discussed.
