Soft, conformable electrical contacts and lamination techniques form the basis of a useful method for fabricating high resolution plastic circuits. By incorporating thin elastomers, a new class of material for these systems, this approach avoids many of the problems associated with the layer-by-layer techniques that have been used in the past. It also automatically and efficiently encapsulates the circuits and places them at the neutral mechanical plane of the structure. This method is compatible with a wide range of organic semiconductors. It represents a simple and general technique for noninvasively establishing electrical contacts to fragile or ultrathin organic and bio-organic materials.
