The intent of this talk is to alert the audience to the existence of skilled low-cost software development organizations in other countries. The competitive pressure to reduce software costs, along with the existence of the low-cost offshore resource, means that some software development jobs will move offshore. We must undertake drastic action now to prevent software development from following consumer electronics offshore. The talk will discuss various companies that are exporting software development (e.g., T1, Citibank) and will suggest a number of areas that we must pursue to remain competitive. The entire contents of the talk will be drawn from previously published material.
