Statistical Analyses and Reproducible Research

We describe a simple system for creating and distributing documents such as reports, tutorials and research papers that combine text, code and auxiliary software. We call this combination a compendium. The system exploits recent developments in package development and authoring tools in the R system, but applies generally to several other programming languages. We demonstrate how these tools can be used to disseminate data and analyses.
