Sub-Parsec Clumping in the Nearby Molecular Cloud MBM12.
01 January 1990
At a distance of 65 pc, the molecular cloud MBM12 (=Lynds 1457/8) is the nearest molecular complex known. We report here the results of extensive molecular and preliminary atomic spectral mapping of the MBM12 complex using the Crawford Hill 7m and Arecibo 305m telescopes. We estimate the total H sub 2 mass of the cloud to be about 30 M. Altogether there are over 50 distinct emission clumps and the sup (13) CO(J=1 -> 0) maps show structure within the MBM12 complex down to the resolution limit of ~6,500 AU. Interclump gas accounts for about 15% of the total mass.
