Task Allocation Heuristics for Distributed Computing Systems (NOT KNOWN IF TALK GIVEN BECAUSE AUTHOR HAS LEFT AT&T)

This paper presents three heuristics for allocating tasks in a distributed computing system. A cost function is formulated and includes the interprocessor communication and processing costs. The model allows adding application specific constraints to the cost function by the proper initialization of the assignment variables.
