The stabilized soliton laser.

In the soliton laser, feedback from a pulse shaping fiber controls output pulse width and shape. We describe servo control that locks to the required optical phase of that feedback, such that the laser produces an uninterrupted stream of pulses of uniform height and width. The stabilized soliton laser has produced pulses as short as 60 fs directly, and as short as 19 fs with compression in an external fiber.
