This is a summary of an invited talk presented at the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Halide Glasses for Infrared Fiber Optics. The thermal properties of fluoride glasses including transformation temperatures, thermal expansion, specific heat and thermal conductivity are reviewed. From a practical standpoint these properties are important in the fabrication of glass components including optical fibers, inasmuch as they determine the operational temperature limits and heat flow characteristics to, and from, the glass forming systems.
