THIN SINGLE CRYSTAL FILMS OF ORGANICS; WAVEGUIDING IN PTS FILMS.
01 January 1989
The research work in thin film organization of organic materials is still in infancy compared to that of inorganics. There is only one method that is widely known to provide partial ordering for specific organic systems and that is the Langmuir-Blodgett (L-B) method which was established back in 1917. In the last seventy years very little progress has been made beyond the scope of the L-B technique. Within the last three years a new method has been established that provides order in three dimension and leads to thin single crystal films of specific organic materials. This method is called the `Shear method'. The principles of this method are discussed in this report with many examples.
