Time Resolved Optical Study of Nickel(II) Protoporphyrin IX Dimethylester.

01 January 1989

New Image

Time resolved Raman and absorption spectroscopies were used to characterize the vibrational and electronic structure of the *B sub (1g) excited state of Nickel (II) protoporphyrin IX dimethyl ester. On picosecond time scales some evidence for structural relaxation upon photoexcitation was observed. Such conformational interconversion in metalloporphyrins may have an important role in the complex mechanisms of many biological systems.
