Recently, a backward compatible algorithm relying on the perturbation of the precoder and the reported signal to noise ratios (SNRs), was proposed for downstream crosstalk channel acquisition in vectored digital subscriber line (DSL) systems. In a joining scenario with a large number of vectored lines, this estimation process can take several minutes. Motivated by the smoothness of the crosstalk channel, we propose a faster acquisition algorithm wherein the crosstalk channels from multiple disturbers can be acquired simultaneously by allocating perturbations from different disturbers to different tones. Simulation results reveal that for sufficiently smooth channels the time required to converge to the steady state can be reduced by an order of magnitude relative to the sequential approach.
