Performance Measurement/Trouble Location By D. R. ANDERSON* and M. J. EVANS* (Manuscript received November 24, 1982) The Total Network Data System (TNDS) includes a subsystem that measures TNDS performance and assists network administrators and those responsible for network traffic data collection in finding TNDS troubles. This interactive subsystem provides the telephone company managers with a versatile tool for a performance analysis of the many systems and organizations associated with TNDS. The troubleshooting features usually provide sufficient detail from which to specify corrective action. The performance information can be aggregated across all organizational levels from the single traffic unit to the entire Bell System.
