Traffic Monitoring/Policing Mechanisms for High-Speed Integrated Services Packet Networks
20 October 1989
Many congestion control strategies that have been proposed for high-speed 'packet-based' networks (e.g., BISDN/ATM) have as an essential component a resource-demand (e.g., for bandwidth) traffic monitoring and policing functionality. Some control architectures have this as their main real-time network congestion control. This talk will describe and compare three alternative approaches to such traffic monitoring/policing.
