Two-Pump Fiber Parametric Amplifiers
01 January 2003
The operational features of two-pump fiber parametric amplifiers cannot be matched by conventional, single-pump devices. New degrees of design freedom can be used to construct gain equalized amplifier operating over a broad spectral range. The two-pump device is characterized by four parametric bands that can be used for flexible, unimpaired signal conversion. Orthogonal- pump multiplexing used in birefringent highly nonlinear fiber is shown to result in polarization-dependent parametric response.
