Describes the submarine system using 0.46 inch diameter polythene coaxial cable and submerged repeaters of 24 circuit (3 kc/s spaced) capacity. General system requirements are discussed, and brief details of cable construction and attenuation at the top system frequency of 196 kc/s are given. Description of the submerged repeaters which are of the bidirectional rigid type with transmission bands of 24-96 kc/s and 120-196 kc/s includes a block schematic and typical performance data. Details of line frequencies, terminal modulation scheme and derivation of the necessary carrier supplies and pilots, engineering speaker channels and supervisory systems are given. The arrangement of the terminal stations transmission circuits is shown on block diagrams. Cable loading and system testing during laying of Faroes-Iceland link are described.
