Validation of a simple, tunable-chirp 40-Gb/s RZ pulse carver using fulloptical field characterization

A simple, single-modulator solution for generating return-to-zero pulses with adjustable chirp and duty cycles between 33% and 67% is studied. The temporal phase and intensity of the pulses are measured at 40 Gbit/s using the spectrogram method.
