In this memorandum we review basic concepts of neural network in order to evaluate the requirements for hardware implementation. These requirements have been analyzed from the point of VLSI technology. It is concluded that for high need to use both digtal and analog circuit techniques. These electronic neural networks can be then used as coprocessors to solve many problems in image-processing, artificial intelligence, and other areas with standard computer systems. This memorandum is to appear as chapter #10 of a book: "Integrated Circuits in the Dimensional Range below 0.5microns" edited by R.K. Watts and to be published by John Wiley.
