Vortex Phase Transitions in 2D Superconductors
07 February 1990
Recent scaling theory has treated the superconducting to insulating transition in disordered 2D systems by invoking a direct bosonic analogue to the metal-insulator transition. In the zero-temperature superconducting phase, electrons are bose condensed as Cooper pairs and the vortices are localized at pinning sites; whereas in the insulating phase, the Cooper pairs are localized and the vortices have bose condensed.
