Nokia and Google Fiber set new milestone for broadband access with 20 Gig service
Google Fiber has deployed Nokia’s 25G PON solution to deliver a 20 Gbps broadband service to residential and enterprise customers. This new milestone in broadband was achieved quickly and cost effectively by upgrading Google Fiber’s existing network infrastructure
People used to say to us, “Who needs 1 Gb at home?”. Nobody asks that question anymore. As our homes get “smarter” and every device is set up to stream, having access to higher speed, higher bandwidth internet has become even more important. We believe this is just the start for us - and the rest of the industry too. Using Nokia’s equipment, upgrading to speeds of 20Gb was an easy switch.
