Steven Moore

Steven Moore, Head of Climate Action, GSMA

Steven Moore is responsible for the Climate Action Programme at the GSMA, the mobile industry association.

His role is to provide leadership to support and accelerate the industry transition to Net Zero by 2050. The success of the programme has led to the mobile industry being recognised by the UN as the first breakthrough sector in the Race to Zero.

Steven chairs the GSMA Climate Action Taskforce, which has 50 mobile operator members globally. He works with the industry on climate policy, strategy and research covering energy efficiency, renewables, supply chain engagement, connectivity to reduce emissions, and climate adaptation and resilience.

Steven holds an MSc in Environmental Technology and is an experienced environmental professional having worked on climate action for the past 15 years, inhouse at BT, as a consultant at Deloitte, and for the innovative start-up, dcarbon8.

John Elkington is an award winning world authority on corporate responsibility and sustainable capitalism, a bestselling author and serial entrepreneur. John is the founder and chief-pollinator of Volans, which works with leaders to make sense of the emergent future to unlock the potential of their organisation.

Volans tackles some of the world's most challenging problems, helping key actors move from the responsibility agenda through resilience to regeneration through strategic advisory work. John's thought leadership is brought to bear in Volans Inquiries including Project Breakthrough, Tomorrow’s Capitalism Inquiry and the Green Swans Observatory.

John has helped create and incubate movements including the B Team, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, the Global Reporting Initiative, B Lab UK and he was a faculty member of the World Economic Forum from 2002-2008. In 2009 John was named 4th in an international survey Top 100 CSR leaders, after Al Gore, Barack Obama and Anita Roddick.

John has addressed over 1,000 conferences globally and has served on over 70 boards and advisory boards. He is the author or co-author of 20 books, the latest being Green Swans: The Coming Boom in Regenerative Capitalism.

In 2021, John won the World Sustainability Award.

Chris leads efforts to help customers improve the environmental impact of their IT operations and identify new opportunities to tackle climate change challenges with cloud technology. He also works on opening new Google Cloud data centers throughout the globe. Prior to focusing on sustainability Chris led the storage and database product marketing teams helping customers better understand how to get data into Google Cloud and take advantage of all the cool things you can do with data when it gets there.

Pia Tanskanen, Nokia

Pia Tanskanen is Head of Environment at Nokia. She is responsible for environmental programs related to Climate Change, Science Based Targets and Circular Economy at Nokia. She works directly with customers and partners on joint projects such as single use plastics, recycled materials and carbon programs. She has worked at Nokia for 20 years with different areas of sustainability and technology innovation.

She graduated from University of Technology in Finland and has a postgraduate degree in the areas of technology management, innovation and environment.

Melissa Schoeb is Nokia’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and oversees Communications, Government Relations, Brand, and Sustainability.

Melissa’s priorities are to advance Nokia’s global reputation to drive and support the company’s business strategy as well as help shape relevant debates and ensure a strong voice for Nokia.

Prior to joining Nokia in 2021, Melissa worked at Occidental, one of the world’s largest independent oil and gas companies, where she was Vice President, Corporate Affairs. Before Occidental, she held a number of senior leadership positions at FleishmanHillard, one of the world’s leading communications consultancies, and was Director of Global Communications for Nortel Networks, a multinational telecommunications and data networking equipment manufacturer.

Melissa also has significant management consulting and business management experience, having held a business director role at The VenCom Group, a venture capital company focused on the telecommunications sector, and consulting roles at Gemini Consulting (now Capgemini).

Melissa holds a dual Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Spanish from the University of Mary Washington in the US and has conducted research to define the impact of political initiatives on international economies for the Four Freedoms foundation in Italy.

Melissa is based in Espoo, Finland, speaks Spanish and Italian fluently and has lived and worked in several countries in North and South America, Europe and Africa. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, exercising and watching her son play goal on his youth hockey team.

Amber Mac started her career in San Francisco and Boston during the dot-com boom. As a strategist for Razorfish and Director of Marketing for an e-procurement software company, she spent four years in the technology start-up trenches. Amber left the start-up world to join Microsoft to build one of the first female-focused lifestyle portals. In 2006, she started her own digital agency. The company’s first client was world-renowned business coach, Tony Robbins, and now includes Microsoft, Google, GE, Paypal, Nintendo, Canada Goose, and Fast Company, and many more leading organizations.
