NSP Classic Management NFM-P: Services Operations & Provisioning – Enhanced OAM

Course Number: OS02102-V-1900
Course Duration: 3 days (including lectures and hands-on lab exercises)

Course overview

The content in this training is intended to develop a good understanding of the technologies and principles to configure, monitor, and perform basic troubleshooting of Virtual Private Routed Networks (VPRN) in addition to understanding the enhanced OAM (Operations, Administration and Maintenance) tools included in the 5620 SAM, including: Mirror services; IEEE 802.1ag CFM (Connectivity Fault Management); ITU-T Y.1731 CFM; MEF EFM (Metro Ethernet Forum Ethernet First Mile); and, the proprietary Copy/ Move function for SAPs (Service Access Points) and Services. This course is a combination of theoretical discussion and hands-on practical exercises using the Classic Management NFM-P (Network Functions Manager - Packet) as the primary management interface.

Course objectives

The learner will be able to:

  • Describe the functions and features of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
  • Describe the need and components of Virtual Private Routed Network (VPRN)
  • Explain the purpose and operation of the vprn-ping and vprn-trace OAM tests
  • Explain the motivators for using Enhanced Service OAM management tools
  • Describe test policy and test suite
  • Explain the key concepts of mirrored service
  • Identify the main technologies to support connectivity fault monitoring in SR OS networks
  • Explain the need for implementing 802.1ag CFM
