NSP Classic Management NFM-P: Service Operations and Provisioning – Fundamentals

Course Number:  OS02101-V-1900
Course Duration: 3 days (including lectures and hands-on lab exercises)

Course overview

The content in this training is intended to develop a good understanding of the technologies and principles to configure, monitor, and perform basic troubleshooting of Ethernet based customer services in an SR OS-based environment, including: understanding the SR OS service model; understanding simple Ethernet services (ePipe, VPLS and IES); service templates; and, service OAM tools.  This course is a combination of theoretical discussion and hands-on practical exercises using the NFM-P (Network Functions Manager - Packet) as the primary management interface.

The learner will be able to:

  • Explain SR OS service types and the associated terminology
  • Explain the components required to create a service end-to-end
  • Explain Virtual Leased Line (VLL)
  • Explain the characteristics of an Ethernet Pipe (Epipe) service.
  • Explain the characteristics of Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS)
  • Explain how VPLS emulates a virtual switch through its MAC learning and flooding behavior
  • Explain the characteristics of Internet Enhanced Service (IES)
  • Explain the features of service templates
  • Explain the philosophy related to templates, readonly, hidden, modify, and mustmodify
  • Describe the implementation of SR OS service OAM tests
  • Explain VPLS OAM tools
  • Explain VLL OAM tools
