Course overview

The course builds a strategy for troubleshooting the network equipment and protocols that support the network. Lab exercises will introduce problems at Layers 1, 2, and 3, which students must solve.

  • Data collection and monitoring  (logging, filter logs, Cflowd, log files, mirror service, SAA)
  • Security  ( IP/MAC filters, Policy Based Forwarding on VPLS, Nokia AA, CPM filters/queues, management access filers)
     

Module 3 – Incident isolation

 

  • Techniques for troubleshooting
  • Hardware (common issues, show commands, log filtering)
  • Layers 1 and 2 (port stats, Log filtering, MTU, debug, loopback)
  • Layer 3 (OSPF/ISIS/BGP)
  • MPLS (LDP, RSVP)
  • Services (SAP, SDP, VPLS, VPRN)
