Nokia Data Center Fabric business case analysis tool
Switch to scalable, efficient operations with an automated Nokia Data Centre Fabric
Over the last decade, the number of application workloads that data center networks need to support has grown exponentially. Many businesses are booming as the world logs on to work, shop and be entertained, leaving data center network operations teams running to keep up, short of one critical asset: time. Data center networks and the experts that run them are under tremendous pressure to scale and flex in a heartbeat, but there aren’t enough hours in the day or skills in the house to make it all happen at speed.
Automating network operations is the answer – and a new breed of Data Center Fabric from Nokia is the way forward. Designed for the automation era, it makes your network easily consumable so it can effortlessly scale to meet workload demands, shifting you from a rigidly hierarchical network management approach to a fluid new DevOps style of networking called NetOps.
Ready to make the switch?
Our new Business Case Analysis (BCA) tool lets you model and test how a Nokia Data Center Fabric could save your operations team significant effort and time. It helps answer the question “What approach should we take to expand or build out our data center network and why?”
Why invest in a Nokia Data Center Fabric?
A next-generation leaf and spine data center fabric with enhanced NetOps and automation tools, higher capacity and increased port speeds, fundamentally changes the network operations game. It cuts operations tasks down to size for all phases of the fabric lifecycle, and reimagines openness, flexibility, scale and performance for the new cloud era.
- Transform reliability, availability, and performance across application workloads
- Keep pace with growth by scaling and simplifying operations
- Build agility, flexibility, and efficiency into how you operate
- Speed services to market by completing tasks in minutes, not days
- Automate all those error prone, repetitive or complex manual tasks
- De-risk making configuration adds, moves, and changes
- Reduce physical test equipment thanks to network emulation
- Boost uptime, performance and mean time to repair
Operations effort savings you could achieve with a Nokia Data Center Fabric
cumulative effort savings over 4 years for all operational tasks
effort savings for FMO 1 for specific tasks in the operations life cycle
effort savings for FMO 2 for specific tasks in the operations life cycle
power and space cost savings respectively
increase in fabric capacity
The effort savings shown apply to a medium data center fabric scenario. The BCA online tool also provides options to model small and large data center fabric scenarios, as well as options to fully customize inputs for the leaf spine fabric design and a wide range of job functions and operations tasks.
Quantify real-world effort savings to make a great business case
Before anything can change, you need to release investment. That’s why we’ve developed a new business case analysis (BCA) tool with Nokia Bell Labs Consulting. This smart calculator models in detail the quantifiable percentage and effort savings in hours that a next generation Nokia Data Center Fabric solution could deliver for you across its lifecycle.
It analyses operational functions and tasks and effort spent to design, deploy and operate the solution and calculates related power and space cost savings. The business case becomes crystal clear when you add up the increased agility and flexibility operational teams gain with an intent-based NetOps toolkit for automating the Day 0 design, Day 1 deployment and Day 2+ operational phases of the fabric lifecycle.

Model your data center using our BCA tool and receive a detailed benefits report. You can also request a custom analysis to quantify more specific effort savings.
How our unique BCA tool works
It uses data modelling to analyse and compare a migration scenario from a present mode of operation (PMO) to a new future mode of operation (FMO). The PMO is based on a current generation data center networking solution. FMO 1 is a leaf-spine fabric powered by the Nokia SR Linux NOS running on Nokia data center switching platforms based on merchant silicon. FMO 2 extends FMO 1 to include the Nokia Event Driven Automation (EDA) platform for managing and automating all phases of the data center fabric life cycle – including Day 0 design, Day 1 deployment and Day 2+ operations. So you can see exactly how much time your team could save for each operations task.
