IMPACT IoT platform
Internet of Things Platform for IoT device management, data collection and data analytics
Build your IoT device manager on public cloud
In many cases, the environment in which IoT devices are deployed requires complex handling, scheduling and implementation that should consider both the network and device needs. This diversity is not always known ahead of time.
Our cloud IoT platform addresses the challenge of diversity in security, protocol, access and implementation. It seamlessly integrates with public cloud solutions while addressing the diversity towards the devices and network. This also provides the ability to have a distributed system with autonomous operations, high levels of availability and intermittent backhaul.
Complement the widely available public clouds with our sophisticated IoT device management software and bring out the best of both systems in an economical way.

IoT remote device management case studies
Enterprise asset management
Our IoT remote monitoring solution enables asset management and asset tracking, with applications ranging from anti-theft devices and cold chain logistics to luggage management. It allows enterprises to easily locate and remotely monitor assets, collect real-time asset information efficiently and accurately, and run analytics.
IoT energy management
IMPACT IoT remote management solution enables meter data and meter devices to generate instant visualization of energy consumption and daily operations as well as standardized data for daily readings and firmware upgrades. This allows for more effective billing, greater visibility into consumption, increased safety, and proactive maintenance.
IMPACT IoT allows for the creation of smart and integrated cities. It increases municipal efficiency and improves the quality of life with a range of applications such as smart lighting, smart waste, pollution remote monitoring and smart parking. It not only provides energy saving benefits but also has significant environmental benefits.
Smart water metering
Water utility is a great example of industries that can significantly benefit from improved remote monitoring of their assets. Water is one of the most precious and valuable resources so managing the effective distribution and metering of water is critical.
IMPACT IoT enables water utilities to harness the full potential of digitalization in smart water metering systems.
We will guide you on the seamless process of remote onboarding and provisioning of smart water meters. Utilities and end users will be able to remotely monitor and locate water leaks and fix problems thanks to acoustic leak detection, as well as track power usage proactively.

Customer success story
Narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT) is a low power wide area network technology (LPWA) enabled over existing mobile infrastructure that trades off speed for lower power usage, longer range, supporting more devices per cell tower, and lower cost per connection. This makes it ideal for large scale deployments over a wide coverage area, even when devices are underground or deep within buildings.
Vodafone globally has pioneered the development of NB-IoT. With the help of Vodafone using Nokia’s IMPACT IoT platform, Watergroup has been able to undertake a massive smart meter rollout. The IMPACT IoT software platform makes it seamless with standardized device protocols, enabling fast endpoint scaling and efficient onboarding of new devices, applications and data.
How Nokia IMPACT IoT platform helped China Mobile
As landslides and other destructive geological events increase in frequency around the world, densely populated areas such as China are at especially high risk. When landslides happen in areas like these, the potential for massive loss of life and extensive property damage is staggering. This makes early warning of these events critical so authorities can take action to protect people and property.
Nokia partnered with China Mobile to develop a landslide monitoring and alarm system (LMAS) built on Nokia’s IMPACT IoT platform. This system enables the BGIGC Group, a Chinese highway operations management company, to detect and respond more effectively to landslides along their roadways. Read more in the case study.
IoT security for device management
With the exploding amount of IoT devices and applications, security is more important than ever for network operators, enterprises and end-users. With our NetGuard Endpoint Security portfolio we monitor IoT devices, detect malware, draw correlations between events in different parts of the network, and set security parameters to minimize the chance of successful attacks.
