ICE-D 1600G DR8 LPO
High-performance transceiver for next-generation AI and datacenter intra-connect
What is ICE-D 1600G LPO transceiver?
A linear-drive pluggable optics (LPO) transceiver is designed for high-density, low power intra-datacenter applications and eliminates the power-hungry digital signal processor (DSP) found in conventional transceivers based on fully retimed optics (FRO), to achieve very-low power consumption - approximately 75% lower than a FRO pluggable.
The Nokia ICE-D 1600G LPO is a high-performance DR8 octal small form factor pluggable (OSFP) transceiver build on Nokia's proprietary ICE-D photonic integrated circuit (PIC). This module, uses 106.25 GBaud PAM4 modulation per lane, supports 1.6 Tb/s aggregate bandwidth over 8 lanes and delivers industry-leading power efficiency in a standard OSFP form factor. The ICE-D PIC is paired with a silicon-germanium (SiGe) driver, co-designed and co-packaged to minimize losses and improve signal integrity.
Designed for next-generation AI clusters and hyperscale data center spine-leaf fabrics, the ICE-D 1600G LPO supports power-efficient 1.6T switch-to-server and switch-to-switch connectivity in cloud and enterprise data centers, particularly where power constraints favor LPO architectures.
