Automatic Full Custom Design of Digital Signal Processors
26 October 1988
In the past several years, various techniques have been developed to automate the design of digital VLSI systems. Semi-custom techniques such as standard cell place and route, gate arrays, etc. have proven adequate for VLSIs with less stringent speed, area, and power requirements. However digital signal processing VLSI designs are in most cases done using full-custom techniques, which until recently has been manual.
