Self Alignment Technique for Fiber Attachment to Guided Wave Devices

A new technique which simplifies fiber-waveguide attachment by eliminating most of the alignment degrees of freedom is proposed and demonstrated. Low loss couplint (0.4 dB average) for large arrays (12 fibers) has been achieved.
