SEXAFS as Structural Probe for Magnetic Surfaces: Pros and Cons

The technique of surface extended x-ray absorption fine structure (SEXAFS) will be briefly described, with emphasis on its strengths and limitations for determining adsorption sites and bond lengths of metal overlayers on metal substrates. The ability to distinguish between overlayer clustering, wetting, and alloying will be specifically addressed.
