Nokia has responded to the key industry needs of optimization, fast time-to-market and low-risk deployment with a pre-defined, cloud-native compact core solution called Compact Core.

Compact Core uses state-of-the-art cloud technology, with the complexities hidden from the operator.

Nokia Compact Core is a low-end VoLTE/VoWiFi solution that bundles the software, cloud platform and services together to facilitate deployment. It is a pre-optimized offer, targeted for customers who wish to deploy VoLTE and/or VoWiFi for a limited number of subscribers.

Compact Core utilizes the same Nokia portfolio and partner products as used in larger scale Nokia offerings of VoLTE/VoWiFi and EPC.

Building blocks

The core functions and products are incorporated into pre-defined building blocks; these include IMS core components as default, fulfilled with optional VoWiFi and EPC components. Fully pre-defined, integrated and tested blocks can be selected based on the functionality and capacity needs, within the maximum capacity limit.


The cloud automation benefits of a simplified pre-defined cloud introduction include the following Compact Core uses field-proven NFV technology, such as the market-leading Nokia IMS and TAS Compact Core leverages CloudBand Infrastructure Software (CBIS) for the cloud environment The CloudBand Application Manager (CBAM) for VNF management


A compact core solution is pre-defined on AirFrame hardware to provide optimized performance for the telco functions that have the most stringent requirements when it comes to standards.


Compact core is an end-to-end solution that includes professional service, as well as providing a full service from planning and designing through to deployment, integration and verification with the network, together with all associated care and maintenance.
