Nokia Ethernet Virtual Private Network Services

Course number: OP00086
Course duration: 4 days
Price: €3,200

Course overview

The Nokia Ethernet Virtual Private Network (EVPN) Services course provides students with the critical knowledge required to deploy and operate EVPN Layer-2 and Layer-3 services. Topics such as EVPN concepts and terminology are covered. The course also explores the different EVPN route types required to support the operation of EVPN ELAN, EVPN integrated routing and bridging, and EVPN Eline services. In addition, it entails the operation of all-active and single-active multi-homing. Upon completion of this course, students will understand the operation of EVPN and be able to configure and troubleshoot EVPN services. Comprehensive hands-on lab exercises accompany the course to reinforce the course learning objectives. All use cases and lab exercises are based on the model-driven command-line interface (MD-CLI).

Course objectives

After completing the course, students should be able to:

  • Define the basic EVPN concepts
  • Demonstrate the use of EVPN for ELAN services
  • Identify the EVPN route types used to support EVPN VPLS
  • Explain the use of EVPN for Layer-3 services
  • Identify the EVPN route types used to support EVPN Layer-3 services
  • List and explain the different Layer-3 EVPN forwarding models
  • Identify the EVPN route types required to support multi-homing
  • Describe the designated forwarder election procedure

  • Describe the aliasing mechanism used to enable load-balancing in all-active multi-homing
  • Explain the operation of EVPN in the case of single-active multi-homing
  • Illustrate the handling of an Ethernet segment failure
  • Demonstrate the use of EVPN for ELINE services
  • Describe the operation of a single-homed EVPN VPWS
  • Describe the operation of a multi-homed EVPN VPWS
  • Illustrate how EVPN services can provide connectivity between sites across EVPN and non-EVPN networks
  • Configure and verify EVPN Layer-2 and Layer-3 services
  • Configure and verify EVPN multi-homing
