Course overview

The Nokia IP networks and services fundamentals course is the starting point for the Service Routing Certification program. It is designed for students who begin with a limited knowledge of IP and Ethernet technologies. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be familiar with the basics of the TCP/IP layered model, ethernet, Internet addressing and packet forwarding, routing protocols, MPLS tunneling, and virtual private network (VPN) services. All use cases and lab exercises are based on the model-driven command-line interface (MD-CLI).

Course objectives

After completing the course, students should be able to:

  • Explain the purpose and operation of the Ethernet protocol

  • Identify common routing protocols and explain the basics of OSPF and BGP
  • Explain what a VPN service is
  • List the VPN types supported on the Nokia 7750 Service Router
  • Describe how MPLS tunnels are used to support VPN services
  • Identify the different service components and the required configuration steps on the Nokia 7750 Service Router

Prerequisites

  • Experience with binary numbers operations.
  • Basic knowledge of Ethernet and IP technologies is an asset.
