Automatic Backup, Archive and Recovery System (ABARS)
18 September 1989
The Automatic Backup, Archive and Recovery System (ABARS) provides system administrators and users with an automatic system for backing up and restoring UNIX(R) system files onto and from optical disks. ABARS uses a server machine to coordinate the backup activity for all of the client machines in the network. The optical disks (12 inch disks each capable of storing 2 gigabytes of data) and the disk drives are stored in a jukebox, which manages the movement of the disks between their storage slots and the drives.
