Enhanced detection algorithms for Network Coded HARQ (excerpt of deliverable will be published)
01 January 2013
The topic of this project is to investigate network coded HARQ scheme for LTE uplink. Instead of retransmitting erroneous packets individually, a network coded packet constructed by the XOR of two erroneous packets is transmitted similar to network coding. In order to fully exploit the network coded packet in combination with the previously received erroneous packets, a generalized iterative decoding algorithms for Chase Combing (CC) and Incremental Redundancy (IR) is developed. The throughput enhancement by the proposed scheme compared to common HARQ transmission is confirmed by LTE link-level simulations. Furthermore, a link adaptation algorithm is investigated for the proposed network coded HARQ scheme. Thanks to the link adaptation algorithm, a constant throughput gain is obtained in overall SNR region by given several modulation coding schemes (MCS). All the analysis done in the project are implemented in ALU LTE uplink simulator (eNLiMat).
