Estimating Spectra

Physical and biological systems often exhibit time-varying and spatially-varying behavior. To study these processes, one can collect measurements of various quantities containing information about the dynamics of the system. A powerful method of organizing and analyzing these data is to estimate their spectral characteristics, i.e. their distribution of energy with frequency.
