Evaluation of Improved Articulatory Codebooks and Codebook Access Methods
Articulatory codebooks -- lists of geometrical parameter vectors describing vocal-tract shapes linked to acoustic parameter vectors of related vocal-tract filters -- are essential for inferring vocal-tract shapes from natural speech [1,2]. We have shown earlier, that articulatory codebooks can be adapted to different speakers [3], and that the ambiguity of the acoustic-to-geometric mapping can be alleviated by retrieving a time sequence of tract shapes using a time sequence of spectra for codebook access within a Dynamic Programming framework [4].
