Experiences in Applying the New ANSI Normalized Site Attenuation Recommendations

This paper discusses the procedures used, problems encountered, and results obtained in the characterization of an open area test site using the new vertical and horizontal normalized site attenuation recommended in the current draft of ANSI C63.4. Initial results indicated that the site was acceptable using conventional site attenuation, but unacceptable using the new normalized procedures. The conflict was resolved primarily by using measured antenna factors rather than those provided by the manufacturer of the dipoles.
