C++ is rapidly becoming the language of choice for software project development in AT&T. This paper provides some explanation for why that is happening. It discusses the inherent benefits of C++, takes a look at some of the actual experiences of projects using C++, and concludes by presenting lessons and general information that can be helpful in ensuring successful development using C++.
