Experimental characterization of nonlinear distortions in WDM PDM-QPSK systems without dispersion management

We experimentally investigate nonlinear distortions in PDM-QPSK systems without inline dispersion compensation. We show that, at optimal channel power, the nonlinear noise level is half the linear noise level, and grows as Ns1.4, where Ns is the number of spans.
