Experimental Comparison between Sub-band Single-Carrier and Superchannel for 400 Gb/s and 800 Gb/s Transport

Performance of 124 GBaud single-carrier based on 4-subband transmitter is compared experimentally with 4x30.25 GBaud superchannel solution. Using QPSK and 16QAM in a 125 GHz grid, subband single-carrier outperforms superchannel using QPSK thanks to empowered FEC however with 16QAM higher implementation penalties at 124 GBaud overcome this gain.
