Experimental Comparison of PM-64QAM and Combined Geometric-Probabilistic Shaped QAM

We present a novel format of combined geometric-probalistic shaped QAM. This constellation can deal with both binary and non-binary error correcting codes. In this paper, we compare the performance this new constellation to a conventional rectangular 64-QAM. In back-to-back, loop and WDM experiments, In back-to-back, we measure 1.0 dB sensitivity gain compared to PM-16QAM with 20% overhead.
