Experimental Comparison of Two 8-QAM Constellations at 200 Gb/s over Dispersion Unmanaged Transmission Link

We report on the performance comparison between two 8QAM modulation formats. Using Nyquist pulse shaping and a 50-GHz spacing grid, we show that the Circular-8QAM format outperforms the Star-8QAM format over a transmission link made of standard single mode fiber.
