Experimental demonstration of all-optical time division demultiplexing in an ultrafast nonlinear interferometer (UNI)

All-optical demultiplexing from 4 x 2.5 Gb/s OTDM data stream is demonstrated using an all-optical switching based on ultrafast nonlinear interferometer (UNI) of semiconductor optical amplifier. Bit-error-rate (BER) performance of the demultiplexed channel is measured. A BER of 10(-11) is achieved and the power penalty is only 1.1dB at BER of 10(-9).
