Experimental Study of Photocurrent Imbalance in a 42.7-Gb/s DPSK Receiver under Strong Optical Filtering

We study the effect of optical filter concatenation on a 42. 7-Gb/s, 67% duty cycle RZ-DPSK signal and show that system performance can be greatly improved when the balanced DPSK receiver is intentionally amplitude imbalanced.
